I have such a sweet tooth and I’ll be the first to admit that. When I started eating ‘healthier’ and ‘cleaner’ I found it super difficult to let go of all the sweet treats that I loved – I missed having that indulgence every now and again. I know that I’m not alone and that so many of you on your own clean eating journey, struggle with that same sweet craving!

Well, guess what?

There are healthier and more nutrient dense ways to make the treats that you love! I love creating recipes that not only taste amazing and feel like a true indulgence, but that are also packed with nutrients and that benefit your health and wellbeing in some way. These chocolate hazelnut bliss balls definitely tick all of those boxes!

Why are they good for you?

  • DATES – a great source of fibre and they help with digestion while still being the perfect sweetener for this recipe!
  • HAZELNUTS – a great source of Vitamin E, they help to reduce inflammation, are full of dietary fibre and they boost brain function.
  • HEMP SEEDS – an excellent source of magnesium, omega-3s and protein. They not only support your brain health but they also improve cholesterol and help with digestion.
  • CHIA SEEDS – a great source of fibre and magnesium. They support blood sugar regulation, increase your energy and help with digestion!
  • COCONUT OIL – a healthy source of fat that can help boost mental function and your immunity.
  • RAW ORGANIC CACAO POWDER – helps with digestion, reduces inflammation and improves circulation.

Ingredients:

  • 100g pitted dates
  • 100g hazelnuts
  • 1tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1tbsp chia seeds
  • 40g coconut oil
  • 25g raw organic cacao powder
  • Extra cacao powder and hemp seeds to decorate

METHOD:

  1. Put the hazelnuts in the food processor until they’re chopped up into smaller pieces.
  2. Add in the rest of the ingredients and blend until they reach a smooth and sticky consistency.
  3. Roll them into bite size balls.
  4. To decorate: Roll the balls into the cacao powder or the hemp seeds.
